A Very Special Event

10 Apr 2013

**Announcing a Very Special Event**
Saturday, April 13, 2013
10:00 a.m. until...

This Saturday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. until, The Borne Quilter will be hosting a very special event for a fellow quilter who is in meed of some financial help.

Last year, Debbie Saucier, a local quilter and member of several local quilt guilds, had surgery to remove an aneurysm from an optic nerve. Shortly after recovering from that surgery, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She completed the first session of chemo and had a double mastectomy in March.  She then will have to undergo further chemo and radiation treatments.

Because of this, Debby has been unable to work and has therefore had to go on Cobra insurance.  She is in need of $6500,00, plus 30% of the balance for the hospital charges.  This needs to be paid as soon as possible.

Local quilters, quilt guilds, and quilt shops are trying to raise as much of this as possible.  They have completed this Opportunity Quilt to help defray some of this expense for Debby and her family.
Debby Saucier Opportunity Quilt
This beautiful quilt is 90" x 90" (queen size) and is all reproduction fabrics.  It was pieced by local quilters, then artfully quilted by Charlene Harp, a local long-arm quilter.

Your participation in helping this family is greatly appreciated.  In order to give all of you, our valued customers and quilt friends, the opportunity to do so, some of Debby's friends will be here at The Borne Quilter this Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 10:00 until...whenever!...with this fabulous Opportunity Quilt and as many raffle tickets as you are interested in buying.  The more raffle tickets that you buy, the better your chances are that you might be the happy owner of this truly outstanding quilt!  As an added incentive, everyone who purchases tickets or makes a donation on Saturday, April 13, 2013, here at the shop will be entered into a door prize drawing from The Borne Quilter, and a 15% discount on all non-sale items purchased that day.  Of course, refreshments will be served - doing good deeds and shopping are very strenuous activities, and you need to keep up your strength!  So, call your friends and make your plans to be here!

The drawing for the quilt will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Red Stick Quilt Shop in Baton Rouge, LA.  You need not be present to win, but you do need to have a ticket, so I hope to see you all here on Saturday.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Love and hugs,
Renee

In Memoriam

28 Jan 2013

In Memoriam

My dear friends, as some of you may know, tomorrow, January 29, is the first anniversary of the day that my dear husband, Keith, passed away.  This is going to be a difficult day for us, so we decided it would be best to close the shop tomorrow so that we can remember and honor him in our own special way. We will resume our regular hours on Wednesday, January 30.
I would personally like to thank all of you who have been so loving and supportive of me, my staff, and my family during this past year.  We love hearing all of your funny anecdotes and fond memories of Keith.  You will always have a very special place in my heart.

Keith 1

On a happier note, I am pleased to announce that Denise Domingue has scheduled a Beginner Machine Piecing Class to begin on Thursday, January 31.  There are two time options: 10:00 am-1:00 pm, or 6:00-9:00 pm.  For more details, please visit our website, www.thebornequilter.com, and click on Classes.  Please call or come by the shop to register.
Have a wonderful week, my friends!  I will be back shortly with more exciting news from The Borne Quilter.
All my love,
Renee

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

21 Dec 2012

Merry Christmas!

As I sit here in my office I am amazed that it is already December 20!  How could that be?  Where has this year gone? They say that time flies when you are having fun, and I did have a lot of fun experiences this year, which helped to counter the sad ones.  Anyway, here we are, on the brink of Christmas, and I am so thankful for every one of my experiences, good and bad, happy and sad, because they remind me each and every day of the wonderful life that I have had, and that I continue to have, thanks in no small part to my family, my friends, my co-workers, and all of you, my faithful and loving customers.

I am writing to you today because I have a few things that I want to share with you.  First of all, The Borne Quilter will be closed on Tuesday, December 25, Christmas Day.  We love you all, but we need to be home with our families, and I figured you would, too! The shop will re-open on Wednesday and Thursday, December 26-27, then it will be closed again on Friday and Saturday, December 28-29, so that we can do a physical inventory of all of the beautiful fabrics, and other fun stuff, that are in the shop; as well as Tuesday, January 1, 2013, New Year's Day, so we can recover from our New Year's Eve festivities.  ;-)  We will resume regular hours for the foreseeable future on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

In the meantime, we will be busy little elves, stocking the shelves with fabulous new things, so that after the holidays you can return to your quilting and sewing with renewed enthusiasm and new fabric in your stash!  For a sneak peek...to peak your interest...visit our website at www.thebornequilter.com and read our latest newsletter.
Also, we will have a new class schedule and a new Block of the Month - think Amish! - coming in the Spring. Be sure to check our website for new Event and Class listings.

Elise and Lucy

I would be remiss if I did not share with you the latest picture of my two sweet cheres bebes! Elise Joy is now 2 and Lucy Love is now 8 months old.  Incredible!

Shopping with Mommy and Daddy - on Game Day, Obviously!

That's all for now, folks!  From all of us at The Borne Quilter, may you have a blessed and Merry Christmas, filled with family, friends and love; and a wonderful New Year!

Diane, Janie, Renee, and Denise

Peace and Love,
Renee
